Pine needle artistry is a traditional craft that transforms natural materials into beautiful, intricate creations through coiling, stitching, and decorative techniques. In this 3-4 hour workshop, you'll explore the fundamentals of this fascinating art form while learning skills that can be applied to future projects.

This experience is about more than the finished piece. It's about discovering a new art form, working with natural materials, learning traditional techniques, and experiencing the satisfaction of creating something entirely by hand.

What You'll Learn

With step-by-step guidance, you'll explore:

  • Pine Needle Coiling: Learn the foundational technique of shaping and securing bundles of pine needles.

  • Traditional Stitching: Practice the buttonhole stitch and other decorative stitching techniques.                

  • Creative Design: Explore how thread colors, beads, and embellishments can transform your work into a  personalized piece of art.

  • Finishing Techniques: Learn how to complete and embellish your creation.

What You'll Create

You'll apply your new skills to create a beautiful, approximately 3-inch decorative pine needle ornament.

Choose from an assortment of thread colors, beads, and embellishments to give your creation its own personality. Coastal, nature-inspired, and other decorative styles are possible!

You'll have time to complete one ornament during class, and your workshop kit includes materials for a second ornament to complete independently.

Important Registration Information

This specialty workshop requires a minimum number of registered participants. If minimum enrollment is not met three days prior to the scheduled class, the workshop will be rescheduled and all registration fees will be refunded in full.

  • Registration is required as materials are prepared specifically for you.

  • Because materials are purchased in advance and a seat is specifically reserved for you and may not be available for another crafter, workshop registrations are non-refundable.

  • One project per person; projects may not be shared between participants.

  • We are a BYOB studio, so feel free to bring your favorite beverages and snacks while you create.

How to Register

  1. Choose your project and design options from the drop down menu.
  2. If applicable include any relevant personal information needed to complete your stencil such as name or date.
  3. Confirm and Agree to our policies and terms.
  4. Add to Cart and checkout.

Cancellation Policy

Once your order has been submitted we are immediately beginning the process of production of your personalized stencil. If you would like to cancel your reservation, you must give a minimum of 48 hour notice.

No refunds will be given. If a reservation is canceled at least 48 hours prior to the workshop, the customer can receive a credit towards a future project of equal value. Same day cancellations or no-shows will not be eligible for a credit.


Hammer & Stain reserves the right to make any amendments to this policy at any time. Notification of any changes will be published on this page. If you have any inquiries regarding cancellations or any of our other policies please contact us.

Guest Policy

Unless otherwise specified in the workshop description, unregistered guests are not permitted to attend any workshop, whether it is a public workshop or private party. Bringing an unregistered guest will result in the guest being asked to leave as this interferes with the attention and experience of our registered makers. Makers can inquire about purchasing a guest seat but the request will be subject to approval.

Wood

If your project uses or is made of wood, this policy applies. This is a natural wood workshop, so your sign will have random cracks, chips, knots and other natural blemishes that give it character! Some peeling may occur. We will do our very best to minimize disturbances to the words and make everything look intentional, but due to the nature of the workshop we can make no guarantees. Please keep in mind, no sign is absolutely perfect, as it is hand crafted, but it will certainly be wall worthy!
